In these courses for complete beginners, children will develop confident and secure technique, learn how to read and interpret music notation, perform a variety of music as a soloist and as part of the group, and also compose and improvise their own music.

Short weekly practice tasks are set, so children start to build a regular practice routine from the outset, helping them to make enjoyable progress and preparing them for the regular practice needed to master an instrument.

Each course is taught by a specialist in the instrument, from our team of outstanding teachers.

To take part in this course, students will need an instrument, learning book (the teacher will say which one in the first lesson) and will need to set aside 10-15 mins each day for practice.

This course lasts one term, of 10 to 13 lessons. Those completing the course receive a discount on paired or one to one lessons for the following term.

  • Hire instruments: we are able to provide hire instruments for the duration of the course: for clarinet, violin, saxophone, recorder and guitar courses. Select the relevant option during booking, or contact us.
  • Violins: for Violin Starters, we will advise what size to get in the first lesson so please wait until then to order an instrument!
  • Pianos: read our blog about keyboard and piano instrument options.

These courses are for complete beginners, and are not suitable for those already learning the instrument.
