Charlie English

Guitar, bass

I am a musician and educator who has been teaching music for well over 8 years. While I specialise in the guitar, I have also taught music theory, bass guitar, mandolin, banjo and ukulele all up to a high level, often working with students towards graded exams with ARBSM, Trinity and Rockschool. Personally, I have a bachelor’s degree in music and am currently studying towards a master’s in music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. In addition, I have also have Grade 8’s in the electric guitar and music theory (I am also now learning the flute but this is a much slower process).

I also have classroom teaching experience and have taught music to every year group from Reception to Year 13 (including teaching music GCSE and A Level). This has given a huge amount of experience adapting to individual needs and learning styles and allowed to practise towards becoming the best teacher I can!

As a performer, I specialise in jazz however I have worked as a session player for many years, performing a huge variety of styles from folk to metal and classical to hip-hop. In fact one of the reasons I love teaching is that I am constantly being exposed to new music and I thoroughly enjoy helping students learn to play the music they love to listen to.
