Discover Music
Discover Music is a unique introduction to music, for beginners.
Join our unique introduction to music in this innovative course which takes children's everyday lives and objects at home as the starting point for a rich exploration of music, musicians and musical life.
Children develop a strong grounding in musical understanding at Key Stage 2 level, achieve a nationally recognised Arts Award, compose and perform, and enjoy learning to play ukulele, piano, recorder or singing.
The course uses the latest online collaboration and education technology, and is suitable for anyone with access to a device and internet connection. It’s taught in small groups of up to six children, and pupil progress is documented through both teacher feedback and self-reflection.
Explore music and how it connects to other art forms, find out what a professional musician does and the skills and opportunities they have, learn about a range of instruments, reflect on learning and get support to choose next steps.
Those completing the whole course will be eligible to receive an Arts Award, accredited to Discover level.
The course is designed by pianist, education expert and Director at Greenwich Music School Bethan Scolding MMus and led by Kodály and primary education specialist Fiona Long B.Ed Mus, using the latest educational research, experience in the professional music industry and decades of teaching experience.
If you choose ukulele, piano or recorder then access to the relevant instrument will be required. Please contact us for discounts of up to 14% on instruments purchased at Normans Musical Instruments.
