High quality music-making during school holidays

Our holiday courses are a great way to try something new, broaden musical experience, or put skills developed in instrument lessons to use! Our courses develop children’s creativity and motivation - in everything we do, we aim to develop students’ positive relationship with music.

Courses take place in the summer holiday, half term holidays and other school holidays.

Summer 2019 holiday courses

 

Our range of inspiring courses during the school holiday (July-August) offers opportunities to try something new, build skills, explore, learn and perform. Course are available for young children aged 0-3 with parents, children aged 4 though to teenagers, and courses for adults.

A number of financially assisted places are available, and individual tuition students at GMS are entitled to 5% off - please contact us.

Families, parents and ages 0-5

Family Choir
For children and parents/carers together
Enjoy singing together to start the day! Takes place at the scenic Mycenae House, overlooking the gardens. This is suitable for anyone who enjoys singing - no experience required.
10-11am • Thursday 25 July, 1 Aug, 8 Aug, 15 Aug • Per family: one session £5/four sessions £15 (must include at least one child and one adult)

Musical Beginnings
For those aged 0-1 years with a parent/carer, and expectant parents
Our nationally recognised course for the youngest children and parents interested in learning how to make music at home - learn how to sing together, make your own instruments and interact through music.

Songs & Sounds
For those aged 0-2 years with a parent/carer
Develop musical awareness and musical control through singing, moving to music, bouncing to rhymes, and exploring sounds with simple, child-friendly percussion instruments. Use touch, movement and colourful scarves to involve all senses in making music!

Music Makers
For those aged 2 & 3 years with a parent/carer
Explore and interact through music - sing, actively explore musical elements such as rhythm, pulse dynamics and pitch, create music with percussion instruments, and listen to live performances on flute and ukulele.

Young Musicians’ Summer Course
For those aged 5-11yrs: beginners & instrument learners

Enjoy a week of creative music-making this summer! Our Young Musicians’ Summer Course is for children aged 5 to 11 with an interest in music - it’s suitable for absolute beginners, those who have already started learning an instrument, and those who have been learning for several years.

Creative music games • sing together • perform in groups to each other • create and compose • make music with new friends • instrument taster sessions • explore music • play instruments together

The course is led by Greenwich Music School Director and pianist Bethan Scolding MMus, together with GMS teacher and flautist Fiona Long B.Ed.
