Nick Jones

Nick J Jones is a composer, sound artist, musician and workshop leader. Studying at Trinity Laban from 2005-2009 he received 1st Class Honours in composition and was awarded the Daryl Runswick composition prize in 2008.

He has been working professionally in the industry for over ten years and has a diverse output of work including collaborations with youth dance/theatre companies from The Royal Opera House and The Young Vic theatre, sound installations for Discover Children's Story Centre and The Science Gallery London and new works of contemporary dance written for the companies Far From The Norm and Vocab Dance with performances at such venues as The Place, The Royal Opera House's Clore Studio, VAULT Festival and Arcola Theatre.

He has extensive experience working on community arts projects with such organisations as The Royal Opera House, Chickenshed inclusive theatre companies, Pegasus Opera Company and The Mental Health Foundation and has been teaching primary school music classes since 2013 working both independently as well as for Bigfoot Arts Education.

Nick has a strong belief in the potential of children and young people to create and perform meaningful pieces of music that reflects their personalities, their skills, passions and interests and feels most energised when working in collaborative creative settings that allow participants to find and develop their own creative, musical voices.
