Julia Bernardi

Violin, Musicianship

Julia’s musical journey began at the age of nine. Just three years after her first violin lesson she was accepted into the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School, where she received vigorous musical training from ages twelve to eighteen. In 2023 she graduated from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music Performance in 2023. Julia began teaching private students during her studies and has now built up over four years of teaching experience, considering it to be one of her biggest passions in music.

Julia’s teaching philosophy centres around creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment and she is dedicated to tailoring her approach to meet the unique needs and aspirations of each student, ensuring that they become not only skilled violinists but also confident and expressive individuals.

Throughout her studies, Julia has been mentored by an impressive selection of teachers including Sarah Curro (Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Associate Concertmaster) Jo Beaumont (La Scala Orchestra, Milan, Associate Concertmaster) and Leonid Yanovskiy (Concertmaster of the Pensacola and Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestras). She is an active freelance performer and has worked with renowned ensembles such as Orchestra Victoria, Melbourne Opera and Australian Chamber Orchestra.

As a violin teacher, she is committed to providing comprehensive instruction in music theory, ensemble playing, and solo performance, and is experienced in preparing students for recitals, auditions, and music examinations.
