Columba Dromgoole-Cavazzi

Violin

Columba Dromgoole-Cavazzi is an Irish American violinist based in London. She studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance as a postgraduate TCL Scholar from 2020-2022 with LPO Concertmaster Pieter Schoeman. At Trinity Laban, she was coached in masterclasses and performance projects by Michael Vaiman, and members of the Carducci and Piatti Quartets and London Mozart Players. Columba also studied music at the University of Southampton, where she led and managed the orchestras and won the John Ireland Performance Prize. She also studied at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, during which time she led the National Youth Chamber Orchestra of Great Britain and was a member of the BBC Proms Youth Ensemble.

As a freelance player, Columba regularly plays with ensembles such as London City Philharmonic, Fidelio Orchestra, Albion Chamber Orchestra (leader and soloist), Scherzo Ensemble, London Euphonia Orchestra (2nd violin principal), London Firebird Orchestra, and for tribute concerts by candlelight. Columba also records for Sony and Universal Music in sessions at Abbey Road Studios and BBC Maida Vale Studios and performs with chart topping rock bands such as Don Broco and Band of Skulls.

Columba is a passionate and dedicated teacher and is thrilled to be joining the team at Greenwich Music School. She currently teaches at a Junior & Senior school in Surrey and tutors violin and piano privately.
