Antonia Thwaites

Singing / voice

Antonia Thwaites is a classical soprano and singing teacher based in Greenwich, London. She started her musical studies at the specialist music school Chetham’s School of Music and consequently spent five years training at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. During her performance degree, she took a two year module in pedagogy and was recently awarded a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours.

With over four years of private teaching experience, Antonia strongly believes in the power of singing for wellbeing and aims to create lessons that are joyful, whilst also delivering a detailed and holistic technical training. She believes teaching is all about deep listening, not only listening intently to the student and their voice, but teaching them how to ‘listen’ to their body and develop their own kinaesthetic technical awareness.

Antonia also has considerable performance experience as a classical singer and holds an ATCL Diploma in vocal performance. In 2021 she studied abroad firstly at the Conservatorio di Musica G.B.Martini in Bologna, Italy, where she learnt the ‘Bel Canto’ style, and secondly in Kandersteg, Switzerland, performing in Puccini’s Suor Angelica with the Berlin Opera Academy. Recently she performed the role of Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro at The National Liberal Club in an abridged adaptation that she arranged and directed herself.
