Andrea Montalbano

Violin

Andrea Montalbano began studying the violin at the age of 6 and at 12 was admitted to the Conservatorio V. Bellini in Palermo, class of Professor Umberto Bruno.

He studied with leading violinists and teachers including Silviu Dima, Stefano Pagliani, Ofer Falk and attended masterclasses with violinists such as Tasmin Little, Francesco Manara, Simone Bernardini, Christophe Horak, Ben Sayevich, Kronos Quartet and Carducci Quartet.

He was member of several orchestras including Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Fondazione Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Orchestra da Camera "Gli Armonici", Orchestra Giovanile Meditteranea,where he played in prominent positions.

From September 2014, he is the leader of London Euphonia Orchestra and he is one of the member of Southbank Sinfonia 2017 in London.

He is founder, with cellist Urska Horvat and pianist Francesca Fierro, of Tamesis Piano Trio, which has been selected to play in the semifinal of St Martin in the Fields Competition, became part of the Richard Carne mentorship programme at Trinity Laban, won 2nd Prize at the TIM Music Competition and 3rd Prize at the Grand Prix Virtuoso Music Competition.

He graduated with Distinction at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, under the direction of Professor John Crawford.

He is very grateful to Trinity Laban Conservatoire who generously awarded him with “Trinity College London Scholarship”.

He is a passionate violin teacher, and his main goal is to instil his love for music to his students.
