Martha-Maria Mitu

Violin

Martha has been described as a ‘creative and exciting artist’ by acclaimed violinist Igor Karsko and having the 'most intuitive playing' by renowned pianist Sergio De Simone. Currently based in London, Martha-Maria Mitu enjoys inhabiting the creative intersections of being classical violinist/violist, interdisciplinary performer, composer, and music educator.

Alumna of Trinity Laban Conservatoire London and Lucerne School of Music Switzerland, Martha has performed and showcased her work in various prominent international festivals and performed solo concerts all cross Europe, Asia, and the UK.

Highlights of her most recent performances include -

Performance as 1st Violin Tutti member with BBC Concert Orchestra within Snape Malting BBC Proms and at the Nevil Holt Opera; recital at Wigmore Hall with Effra String Quartet; Blackheath Concert Hall, London as soloist performing the Sibelius violin concerto with Trinity Laban Orchestra; at the Royal Opera House - Mumbai and at KM Conservatoire of Music, Chennai India; within the Enescu Festival, Timisoara, Romania, and Chopin Piano Fest, Prishtina, Kosovo; and as concertmaster within the Lucerne Festival Switzerland.

Martha’s goal as a teacher is to encourage and bring out the best in each one of her students – she believes that music and the arts are a foundational tool in a child's education, as it develops passion, motivation, and a number of other qualities useful in a child's development. At the present time her goals are to help create an environment of growth for all her students, and for them to discover both the joy of music making and the practical benefits that creative practice brings.
