Lin Qiu

Lin is a classical pianist and piano teacher based in Blackheath, London.

She began her musical training with Professor Mei-Chun Huang at the age of 6. Since then, she has developed a solid foundation in piano, and has had many opportunities to perform. Lin studied musicology (majoring in overseas education) in Xiamen, China and became a piano teacher at a local music service, while she prepared for her music studies in the U.K.

In 2013, she moved to Cardiff to complete a two-year master's degree in piano performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) under the guidance of Graham Caskie. During her intensive professional studies at RWCMD, she also had the opportunity to study with Richard McMahon, Llŷr Williams, James Kirby, Richard Ormrod and Freddie Kempf.

In her 10 years experience of piano teaching in both mainland China and the UK, Lin has helped her students find a balance between ‘Rote learning’ and ‘mindful learning’. Lin enjoys sharing her experience of learning the piano mindfully - starting piano lessons with a purpose and taking consistent, intentional action in daily piano practice. Lin believes that music lessons should be inspiring, motivating, and have a profound impact on students' musical awareness. With her well-rounded musical knowledge and 20 years of piano learning experience, she can lead students to follow a holistic approach that reduces mechanical and unproductive practice.

Lin is also passionate about inspiring more people to enjoy learning music, so she makes high quality piano videos and creative music tutorials on social media platforms that have received a lot of positive feedback.
